Willy Gnonto has spoken of his delight, after fans voted in their numbers to select the Leeds United attacker as their Player of the Month for September, whilst also choosing his strike against Coventry as the club's Goal of the Month.
The awards capped off an impressive month, which saw the Italian international impress in the wins over Cardiff City and Coventry.
"It feels so good, I wasn't expecting this," said Gnonto after being handed his award.
"As a team we work incredibly hard, and on a personal level, I'm trying to help the side as much as possible. To be recognised as player of the month is just amazing, I just want to keep going like this and hopefully many more are going to come."
Having featured in all of Leeds' eleven games so far this season, fans and pundits alike have praised Gnonto for his commanding performances, which have lifted the side up to third in the table, three points behind league leaders, Sunderland.
Despite winning both Player and Goal of the Month awards, Gnonto believes there's still more to come from him personally, saying, "It's been quite nice, but I wouldn't say I'm satisfied, because I know that I can improve even more. It's been a good start, but at the same time, I'm far from where I want to be.
"I practice every day for this, I know that my job is not done. I've many goals for the season, and hopefully I'm gonna reach them all."
Registering nine wins/draws out in the first ten league matches, morale couldn't be higher at Thorp Arch and Gnonto reserved special praise for the Leeds United supporters.
"The atmosphere around the club, it's so nice. We have fun every day. We work really hard, but always with a smile on our faces. I try to enjoy every minute, and that's made so much easier with this group of players.
"The fans in particular have been amazing. The team has been through tough moments, but they've always been behind us and we just want to keep going like this. We know that we have the quality to reach our goals and with them behind us, we know we can do it."
