With four wins out of four against Harrogate Town, Hannover 96, Schalke 04 and Valencia, summer signings Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell, Jayden Bogle and Alex Cairns settling in, and Mateo Joseph scoring for fun, confidence is high in camp.

Saturday’s opener will pit the Whites against Championship newcomers Portsmouth, having not played each other since a 0-0 draw in 2012.
