“It feels amazing,” Leeds United Women’s goalkeeper Holly Mears declared following the side’s 10th successive victory this campaign, coming in the form of a 2-0 win over Norton & Stockton Ancients in the FA WNL Division One North.

First half goals from Amy Woodruff, as she continued her pursuit of another Golden Boot, and Drew Greene, who capped off a clever run from Darcie Greene, condemned the visitors to defeat at the BD Community Stadium as the Whites continued their league-leading form.

Speaking after the final whistle, following confirmation of another clean sheet, Mears added: “I think all the team is happy about it, and it's a really good thing to have, a 10th win.

“They were going to come back out aggressive,” the stopper revealed of the half-time message. “We needed to maintain what we were doing and just keep pushing, and hopefully get some more goals in.

“Seeing as last week we conceded, I feel like this week we've played a good performance, not just me but everyone, so we could actually keep the clean sheet this time.”

On next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash against AFC Fylde Women, Mears concluded: “We're excited.

“It should be a good test so we are all looking forward to it. It should be good!”
