Mark Jackson’s side put in a battling display to win away at Norwich City in Premier League 2 on Friday afternoon.

Two penalties, two goals and three red cards resulted in an entertaining afternoon, which accumulated in the Whites getting an important three points.

The first half began in a style which saw both teams looking to work one another out. In truth, the first half an hour of the game was a hard-fought and tactical battle, which resulted in very few attempts on goal.

After 33 minutes, the game burst into life. Crysencio Summerville went on what is becoming a trademark run, getting past multiple defenders before being brought down in the box. The resulting penalty was unfortunately placed wide from Bobby Kamwa.

The Whites did have the ball in the net before the whistle, but the offside flag was to deny them this time. Charlie Allen was the creator as he chipped in Max Dean, but as the forward chest controlled and volleyed home superbly, the officials denied him the opener.

The half-time whistle went at 0-0, but crucially in the half, both Nohan Kenneh for Leeds and Reece McAlear for Norwich had been shown yellow cards in the first 45, something which would become a problem for each player in the second half.

HALF TIME: Norwich 0-0 Leeds United

The second half began with the hosts on the front foot. But, despite their attacking intent, they were pegged back by an early goal from Jackson’s side, who went into the lead.

The combination play between Summerville and Cody Drameh created the opening, allowing the perfectly timed run from Dean to smash into the roof of the net and set Leeds on their way to three valuable points.

Following the goal, the flurry of red cards arrived. Firstly, as Allen looked to race through midfield, Canaries man McAlear brought him down and received a second yellow, meaning the hosts had to play out the last half an hour with 10 players.

The numbers were then evened up on the pitch. Kenneh was the next to receive a second yellow and subsequent red, as he was adjudged to have committed a foul. Replays showed the decision was very harsh on the midfielder.

There was then to be a third sending-off. Booked just a minute earlier, Melvin Sitti got his marching orders after crashing into the back of the lively Summerville, meaning it was now nine vs 10 on the pitch.

Stuart McKinstry was the player to make the hosts pay, as he used what space had become available to go on a surging run into the box, and he was then brought down to give Leeds their second penalty of the match.

This time the responsibility fell to Summerville, and he calmly slotted the ball into the corner of the net and the points were secured, making it superb nine wins in a row!
