Mark Jackson’s Under 23s side take on Manchester City away from home on Monday evening, in Premier League 2 Division One action.

The Whites head over to the Academy Stadium in Manchester for the 7pm kick-off looking to reignite their early season form in the league and return to winning ways, against the title-holders from last year.

During the 2020/21 campaign, City lost just two times from 24 matches on their march to an impressive league winning season. Currently occupying fourth place in the league, they have lost three times from their opening 12 games this time around.

Out of those three losses though, just the one has come at home. From seven games, Brian Barry-Murphy’s side have also won five and drawn one, scoring 21 times in the process, showing they are hard to handle on their own turf.

Leeds have impressed away from home though, with three wins from six up to now giving them the fourth best record on the road in the league.

Monday’s hosts have a forward who is showing fine form, in James McAtee. With a keen eye for goal, he is already in double figures this season and his hard work was rewarded with a first Premier League appearance for the club against Everton, earlier this month.

Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood are continuing their close battle to top the scoring charts for Jackson’s side, with just one goal separating the pairing. Max Dean is next in the list with three to his name.

After spending time out with injury, first team head coach Marcelo Bielsa has stated that Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling will return to action on Monday evening for the Whites in this Under 23s clash.
