Mark Jackson’s Under-23s are taking on Liverpool Under-23s at Elland Road on Monday evening (19:00), in Premier League 2 Division One action.

The Whites will take on the Reds in front of a large crowd under the lights of Elland Road, who will be looking to support their side towards three important points in this league encounter.

The first time the two teams met this season saw Leeds run out comfortable winners at Liverpool’s academy, with two wonder-goals from Joe Gelhardt coming either side of efforts from Amari Miller and Pascal Struijk in the four-nil success.

Both teams have struggled to find consistent form in what has been a highly competitive division this season. The Whites come into the game knowing a win could see them move up two places to 11th, just behind the Reds.

Liverpool are in a mid-table battle where every point will count, come the end of the season. A victory for Barry Lewtas and his side would also see them go on the move, potentially going above seventh placed Leicester City.

The Reds have suffered just the one defeat in their last five games which was a heavy one against Brighton. During that run they have beaten Leicester, Derby and Crystal Palace all without conceding a goal, whilst also drawing with Everton.

Leeds will be aiming to return to winning ways after producing an excellent display to overcome Derby County at York City’s LNER Community Stadium in their last home match. However, the next game ended in a comprehensive defeat away at Blackburn Rovers so a response will be welcomed.
