Mark Jackson’s Under 23s side take on Leicester City at the LNER Community Stadium in York on Friday evening (7pm), in a match fans can attend or watch live on LUTV.
The Premier League 2 Division One clash will be the second of the season between the two teams. The previous match, played at Leicester’s King Power Stadium, was won 1-0 by the hosts courtesy of a Tawanda Maswanhise goal on the hour-mark.
The Whites will be looking to avoid a repeat of that scoreline when they take on the Foxes on home turf, looking to get their first three points in a home fixture this season. Leicester will also be looking to end their unwanted record of not winning away from home up to this point.
The two teams are separated by a singular point in the table. Due to how close the league is at the halfway point, a win for either could see them rise up the to 8th spot.
Despite a late defeat last time out away at Manchester City, Jackson’s side put in a spirited performance. Sam Greenwood’s double saw him overtake Joe Gelhardt as the top scorer this season, with seven goals to his name.
For Leicester, having netted in the previous game between the two, Maswanhise is leading the goalscoring charts with five. He will need to be watched closely by the backline if they are to claim a much needed victory.
After this, the Under 23s will be without a league fixture for 17 days, until they play Everton at home on Monday 20th December. However, there will be a Premier League Cup fixture away at Wigan on December 16th.
