PL2 action on Friday evening.

Mark Jackson’s Under 23s side take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday evening, at York City’s LNER Community Stadium (7pm).

The Whites are aiming to return to winning ways having not tasted victory in their last three matches, following defeat away at Everton earlier this week.

The Seagulls travel north, sitting fourth in the table. Their fine early season form has seen them win five out of their opening eight matches, drawing one and losing two. The goals of 17-year-old forward Evan Ferguson have played a major role, as he tops the charts for his side with six.

Also with six goals up to now is Joe Gelhardt, but after finding the net on Monday night, Sam Greenwood is catching up with his teammate and is now on four.

In charge of Friday’s visitors is Andrew Crofts. The 37-year-old former midfielder had a long career within the professional game, making just shy of 500 appearances, including over 100 for Brighton themselves.

His side have won just the once on their travels this season so will be looking to improve that record, whilst Jackson’s Leeds side are yet to win on home turf in the league from their three matches played.

An entertaining and close encounter is expected on Friday night. A win could see the Whites move up to fifth place, whereas Brighton could go second with victory.

What has Mark Jackson said, ahead of the game?

“It’s always good to have another game so quickly, to get the players back on the horse as they say! We have recovered well and we’ll see what players we have available for the match. Whoever we have, we know we have a way of playing and we have full confidence in our young players to go out there. They will be hungry to do that and we’re hungry as a group of staff and players to get back to winning ways.”
