Leeds United Under-21s welcome Crystal Palace Under-21s to Thorp Arch on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League 2.

It has been nearly a month since Scott Gardmer’s side were in action in the competition, having instead turned their attention to three different cup tournaments since a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United U21s.

The Whites have picked up valuable senior experience in the EFL Trophy, memorably beating Barnsley 4-3 to kickstart their Group G campaign.

Then, United travelled to Tamworth on National League Cup duties but came away empty handed after a narrow 1-0 defeat, despite a spirited performance in the West Midlands.

Our U21s got back to winning ways with a Premier League Cup win over Stockport County U21s before travelling over the Pennines to face League Two side Oldham Athletic in the second EFL Trophy game.

Having fallen behind, goals from Callum Mills and Carrick Njinko put the Whites ahead, though the hosts showed their experience to turn the tie around. Gardner’s side can still qualify for the knockout stages with a win over Fleetwood Town next month.

Crystal Palace sit 18th in the Premier League 2 standings, having won, drawn and lost in their opening three fixtures. The Eagles began the campaign all square at Arsenal before beating Aston Villa 2-0 and then being edged out by Blackburn Rovers last time out.

Action from Thorp Arch gets underway at 12pm.
