The Whites come into the tie in fine form, having picked up three superb victories before the international break, starting with a scintillating 3-0 victory over reigning PL2 champions Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

A side intent from the off, an early Luca Thomas brace put Scott Gardner’s side in the driving seat, before Jeremiah Mullen’s second-half header sealed the three points in style.

From there, attentions turned to the National League Cup, where in a thrilling end-to-end encounter, the Whites came out on top 4-3 thanks to Thomas’ late strike.

United followed those two victories up with another win in the PL2, this time fighting from a goal down against West Bromwich Albion to run out 2-1 winners in York, with Rhys Chadwick’s powerful low strike separating the two sides at the final whistle.

Leeds sit third in the early Premier League Cup standings, after drawing their opening fixture against Charlton Athletic 1-1 at The Valley.

The Hatters, meanwhile, top the group having beaten Birmingham City 4-1 at Edgeley Park in their first match.
