Leeds United Under-21s return to home soil on Monday evening, taking on Derby County Under-21s in this important Premier League 2 Division 2 match.

This top against bottom clash is taking place at the City of York Council’s LNER Community Stadium, getting underway at 7pm. For those wishing to attend, ticket information is further down the page.

The Whites are currently top of the table with 32 points from 15 matches and with just five games of their season remaining, that’s exactly where they are hoping to remain.

Monday’s opponents, Derby, have had a tough season in the league. They are bottom of the league with just one point gained up to now - which came in their last away game against Sunderland, courtesy of an 89th minute leveller.

Last time out for Leeds, they put in a hugely impressive display away against an experienced Southampton side, who were top of the table at that point. Goals from Mateo Joseph and Jeremiah Mullen sent Paco Gallardo’s side back to the top with three points in that one.

The league remains tight in the battle for promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1. The top three are separated by just two points. On Friday, Nottingham Forest beat the Saints to move into second, level on points with Leeds.

Pushing to open up a gap on Monday night, this is a game in hand for Leeds, who could go three clear of Forest with a win and five clear of third placed Southampton, whilst also having better goal difference than both.

Top-scorer for the Whites is still Mateo Joseph, who has led the chart for most of the season. The striker - and captain - has netted 13 times, which has him as the top scorer in the division.

Osazee Aghatise is one of the main players to keep an eye on for Derby. The attacking midfielder has been dangerous for his side this season and will look cause problems again on the night.

Both players showed their talents on the opening day of the PL2 season at Pride Park. Leeds won the match 5-2 that day, with Joseph netting four times and Aghatise scoring twice.
