Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League 2 action as they welcome Derby County Under-21s to Thorp Arch, with the action getting underway at 1pm.
In what has been a testing campaign for both sides, victory for Scott Gardner’s side will see the Whites rise above the Rams and go level on points with Leicester City, with two games still in hand as they look to finish the season strongly.
Last time out in league action, United fell to defeat at a windswept St. George's Park as they faced Nottingham Forest, shortly after exiting the Premier League Cup at the quarter-finals stage at the hands of Chelsea.
The Blues raced into a two-goal lead at the LNER Community Stadium in York, but a quick-fire double from Alfie Cresswell and Joe Snowdon deservedly drew Leeds level, before Chelsea’s Zak Sturge won the tie somewhat against the run of play in the second half.
Derby have won just one of their last five outings in the PL2, grabbing a 4-2 victory on the road at Manchester United at the beginning of March.
Last time out, the Midlands outfit fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat away at West Ham despite goals from Lennon Wheeldon and Niall McAndrew.
United completed the double over Derby last season as they won promotion back to the Premier League 2, with striker Mateo Joseph firstly scoring four in an emphatic 5-2 success at Pride Park.
The Whites followed that up with a resounding 3-0 victory on home soil, courtesy of strikes from Sam Greenwood, Joe Snowdon and Sonny Perkins.
