Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League 2 action on Saturday afternoon, as they face Derby County Under-21s away from home.
The Whites have picked up four points from their recent three matches in the PL2, firstly recording an impressive 3-1 victory over Everton away from home before falling to a narrow defeat against West Ham United at the LNER Community Stadium.
A trip to the capital came next for Scott Gardner’s youthful side, where United earned a well-deserved point away at Chelsea in an impressive display.
An emphatic Max McFadden volley had put Leeds on track for all three points, but a late Blues’ equaliser salvaged a draw for the hosts.
Those results leave the Whites just one point adrift of Derby County in the PL2 standings, knowing a win could see the team rise up the division’s congested mid-table.
The Rams, having struggled for form early in the campaign, have turned a corner recently under Jake Buxton, going unbeaten in their last four encounters.
Wins over Tottenham and Reading have come in that spell, as well as a 1-1 draw with rivals Nottingham Forest last time out.
The two sides met towards the end of last campaign, with Gardner’s team coming out on top. A first-half brace from Joe Snowdon and a Reuben Lopata-White header fired the Whites to a 3-0 triumph at Thorp Arch.
Action from Matlock gets underway at 12pm.
