Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League Cup action on Monday evening, as they face Birmingham City Under-21s away from home.

It will be a third group stage clash for Scott Gardner’s side, who got their campaign underway with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic U21s at The Valley.

Back at the LNER Community Stadium, the Whites then proved too strong for Stockport County U21s in a 3-1 victory, thanks to goals from Rhys Chadwick, Jeremiah Mullen and Joe Richards.

In all competitions, the Whites have won six out of their previous seven matches, which included an impressive 2-1 success over Gateshead on National League Cup duties last time out.

In a feisty encounter on Tyneside, strikes from Chadwick and Connor Douglas ensured Leeds returned down the A1 will all three points, maintaining their 100 per cent record in the competition.

In the Premier League Cup, the Whites’ tally of four points from two matches sees them sit top of the Group H standings, four clear of Monday’s opposition, though Birmingham do have a game in hand.

The Blues started the tournament with a 4-1 defeat away at Stockport. Elsewhere, in the Professional Development League, City find themselves ninth in the northern standings, having picked up three wins from their opening 11 fixtures.
