Joe Snowdon scored a 96th minute winner as Leeds United came from behind to beat 10-man Colchester United in the Premier League Cup.
Leeds had the first chance of the match inside four minutes, Harvey Sutcliffe delivered a good cross from the right and Luca Thomas turning his strike off target.
Sean McGurk fired wide, before Luca Thomas saw a half volley from 30 yards well saved by Colchester stopper Ted Collins.
Colchester’s first chance came in the 30th minute, with Donell Thomas forcing Dani van den Heuvel into action with an effort from the edge of the box.
Marley Marshall-Miranda saw a shot deflect wide for a corner from the edge of the box and from the resulting set-piece, van den Heuvel made a fine stop to keep the scores level, denying Oscar Thorns shot at the back post.
McGurk saw a fine volley saved brilliantly from 25 yards, before he turned provider, playing Luca Thomas through on goal, but the forward slid his effort just wide.
Against the run of play at the end of the first half, Marshall-Miranda sent Brad Ihionvien forwards and he broke into the box and fired the hosts into the lead.
Leeds looked for an immediate response in stoppage time and Charlie Allen found Cian Coleman in the Colchester box, but he was denied by Collins, ensuring the U’s went in ahead at half time.

Leeds started the second half brightly and Lewis Bate unleashed a strike from 25 yards, but was unable to keep it down.
The hosts nearly doubled their lead in the 58th minute, Marshall-Miranda fired a powerful effort from range, which bounced up in front of van den Heuvel on the surface, but the Whites stopper made an excellent save.
Kaan Bennett was next to go close for Colchester, heading just over following a cross by Thorn.
Leeds came close to levelling when Joe Snowdon hit the post, before Sutcliffe fired just over as the Whites continued to pressure.
Bate saw a free kick hit the wall, before Allen fired just wide from the edge of the box, continuing to push for an equaliser.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute, following a high challenge by Ronny Nelson on Connor Ferguson and from the resulting set-piece, McGurk whipped in a cross and Diogo Monteiro flicked it beyond Collins and into the back of the net.
Allen nearly put Leeds ahead when he cut into the Colchester box, before firing over, whilst Luca Thomas saw his shot cleared off the line by Jet Dyer after being teed up by McGurk, with Ferguson then firing over.
Allen was denied by Collins once more as the Whites continued to push for a winner in stoppage time, and Leeds eventually got it at the death. Allen this time turned provider, teeing up Snowdon to fire home, sparking big celebrations.
