Scott Gardner’s Under 18s side will take on Manchester City in the Premier League North this weekend, as they travel away from home for the lunchtime kick-off (12:00).
The Whites go into the game off the back an impressive 5-1 win at home to Newcastle United last time out at Thorp Arch, prior to the international break. The previous fixture before that win was a 1-1 draw away from home at table-topping Blackburn Rovers.
City also go into the game after a win, as they defeated Sunderland 2-1 to keep up their 100 per cent record on home turf this season. The three points sent them up to second in the table, but they have played two games less than most of the other competitions, including Gardner’s Leeds United side.
Both teams have four wins up to now, but having played more games, sixth placed Leeds also have four losses to Man City’s one. A win for the Whites could see them leapfrog Saturday’s hosts into second, depending on results elsewhere.
The match gets underway at 12:00 at the City Football Academy and there will be a report and reaction to follow on leedsunited.com following the conclusion of the match. Alternatively, fans can watch live on CITY TV.
What has Scott Gardner said, ahead of the match?
“That’s why we wanted to be a Category One academy, to test ourselves against some really good sides and Manchester City are certainly one of those. They will be used to dominating possession and having teams sit off them, which is obviously not how we play, so it will be interesting with our style."
