Tournaments held at Elland Road for youngsters across the country

Hundreds of children experience life as a footballer.

Elland Road recently played host to three Premier League Primary Stars tournaments, with hundreds of children from across the country taking part in the special occasion, whilst representing their schools and club.

Liverpool and Chelsea fought to become the winners for the Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament, for the Under-11 mixed and Under-11 girls tournaments respectively following group stages, a knockout phase and two finals against Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion. Whilst Brighton & Hove Albion were the eventual winners for the National Girls Football Tournament the following day.

This annual two-day event gives hundreds of young children the opportunity to experience life as an elite footballer for one day, with the chance to play at an exciting stadium, wearing the kit of their club and competing under the watchful eye of Premier League and Women’s Super League match officials.

Three teams were also awarded the Fair Play winners from each tournament, with Leeds United winning the mixed tournament, Newcastle United winning the girls Under-11 tournament and Boston United winning the award from the National Girls Football Tournament. Each of these teams embraced the values of the tournament, including fairness and helping others.

Primary school children representing all 20 clubs took part in the Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament on the first day, after 9,000 youngsters from schools across England competed for the chance to represent their respective club at Elland Road for the finals. And there were more than 14,500 girls representing over 100 professional clubs from across the football pyramid who took part in the qualifying rounds for the National Girls Football Tournament, to reach the tournament in Leeds.
