Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is the latest player to be called up for October's World Cup qualifiers.

Gareth Southgate named his England squad on Thursday afternoon, with Phillips retaining his place after an impressive 12 months in the set up, that saw him voted England's Player of the Year.

The 25-year old has played in all but one game this season in the league and cup, whilst also taking the captain's armband for our 3-0 win over Crewe.

Phillips will be hoping to add to his 17 caps and help England reach another tournament, after their run to the Euro 2020 final in the summer.

The Three Lions will resume their qualifying campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with a trip to Andorra on Saturday 9 October (7.45pm) before returning to Wembley where they take on Hungary on Tuesday 12 October (7.45pm).

Phillips and the squad will meet up at St. George’s Park next week to begin their preparations for the games in pole position in qualifying group I, knowing they require eight points from their remaining four qualifiers to secure their place at next December’s World Cup.
