Team news: Daniel Farke names XI for first game of 2024

Starting line-up announced at Elland Road.

Leeds United are on home soil for their first match of 2024 as they face Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship, with five changes made to the starting line-up by manager Daniel Farke.

Kristoffer Klaesson makes his first first-team appearance of the 2023/24 campaign, starting in net for the Whites, with a defence comprising captain Liam Cooper, Joe Rodon, Archie Gray and Sam Byram.

Glen Kamara is back in the starting XI alongside Ethan Ampadu in the midfield, whilst Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter are joined by Dan James and Patrick Bamford in our attack.

Today’s substitutes bench features goalkeeper Dani Van Den Heuvel, Joel Piroe, Jaidon Anthony, Junior Firpo, Willy Gnonto, Djed Spence, Ilia Gruev, Ian Poveda and Mateo Joseph.

Karl Darlow misses out today due to dislocating his thumb in training following our last match, with Illan Meslier still suspended.
