On Sunday afternoon, Leeds United Women host Norton & Stockton Ancients at Elland Road, as Simon Wood’s side aim to secure maximum points in their quest for promotion.
Ahead of the clash, captain Shauna Legge spoke to the media about the season so far, and what it means to her to play at Elland Road.
“We probably need a couple of results to go our way, but we cannot control that unfortunately, so all we can do is focus on ourselves and make sure we are picking the points up and do the business."
Looking ahead to Sunday’s fixture, the defender said, “We had a game there last season and it was special! It was a good win for us and we had a decent crowd there, which hopefully we can match this year.
“Every game is a cup final at the minute, so to play that one of those at Elland Road is amazing. I have grown up being a Leeds fan as well, which is special, and something that am very proud of.
“I remember last year when we were walking out, with Marching on Together was playing, and my knees felt a bit weaker, but in a good way. As soon as that whistle goes, it goes and you are zoned in.
“Whether you are a fan or a neutral, it is going to be a good game, and a very exciting end to the season. It is a good opportunity to get inside Elland Road for anyone who might maybe not experienced it yet.
“Let’s beat last year’s record and march on together to get the win!”
