Sean Longstaff lauded Leeds United's substitutes after their match-winning combination in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Longstaff came into the starting XI to make his 200th Premier League appearance and had come closest to giving the Whites the lead with a blistering shot on the turn that Antonín Kinský somehow tipped over the bar. Leeds were on top during the second half but unable to find a breakthrough until Daniel Farke sent on Harry Wilson and Noah Okafor. The Welshman flicked the ball to his fellow replacement and Okafor did the rest with a silky touch and fine finish.
"It was a big win," said Longstaff. "It was a really positive start for us this season, then we've been a little while without a win. They're in good form as well, one of the in-form teams in the league as well. To match them all over the park, it was a massive win for us. We're trying to make big steps, we had a good year last year and we want to build on it now. Need to follow it with more wins."
Longstaff expects Wilson and Okafor to cause problems for the Whites in the final third.
"They're two massive players," he said. "Harry's got so much experience in the Premier League, had an unbelievable year last year. We're really lucky to have him, we probably need to find ways to get more out of him, in terms of feeding him the ball in more dangerous areas. We all know what Noah can do, powerful, he can dribble, really hard to play against and scores a great goal today. It shows the strength we've got in the squad to bring those players in."
Longstaff rued not seeing the net ripple from his own chance but was delighted to reach a big milestone in the top flight.
"Probably should have scored," he said. "I just tried to hit it as quick as I could. I probably had half a second longer than I thought. He made a good save. Playing 200 times in the Premier League is something you can only dream of as a kid so a big day for me and a proud day for my family."
Leeds are without action now until 21 November thanks to the international break, so finishing on a high was important for the squad.
"It's a massive win," said Longstaff. "When you go into the break with a win it breeds confidence. Lads will look forward to going away with their national teams but also look forward to coming back because we've ended on a positive note. We've got a very tough game first game back after as well, can't get carried away but it's a massive win."
