Sean Longstaff made his first Premier League start for Leeds United at the weekend, coming up against the side he left this summer, Newcastle United.
In a match where a midfield battle was key, Longstaff was on top throughout and was then awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy by the broadcasters after the game.
Speaking to LUTV after the match, our midfielder gave his thoughts.
“I enjoyed it! It was a bit strange to be honest, obviously, playing against some of your best friends and stuff was really weird,” he began.
“The week was a bit weird with it all but I thought we were really good and defended really well.
“Obviously, we can probably be slightly better on the ball at times but I think for us it was definitely a step in the right direction.
“I thought from our perspective, I thought we were really good. I thought we defended well.
“We grew into the game, especially the second half, and probably could have had the best chance of the game and maybe could have snuck it on another day.
“We have done that really well so far and it can get even better, there is no doubt about that. But I think as a start, I think we have got to be pretty happy.”
