Rory Mahady Scotland

Academy goalkeeper Rory Mahady has earned a call-up to the Scotland U21 squad for the upcoming UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Gibraltar and Bulgaria, reinforcing his exciting progress at Leeds United.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper has featured seven times this season for Leeds United’s U21s, earning valuable game time at youth level.

Mahady has also made two senior appearances while on a youth loan at Scunthorpe United — most recently lining up on Saturday in the FA Cup tie against Blackpool.

Scotland travel to face Gibraltar at the Europa Point Stadium on Saturday 15 November, before returning to Fir Park in Motherwell to take on Bulgaria on Tuesday 18 November.

After a record-breaking victory in Dundee against Gibraltar in the last camp, followed by a dramatic late equaliser in Baku against Azerbaijan, Scotland remain in contention for a play-off spot in Group B.
