Leeds United Women full-back Rebekah Bass gave her thoughts after her side were eliminated from the FAWNL Plate at the Round of 16 stage.
The Whites lost away at Alnwick Town after a two-goal defeat at St James’ Park, and the defender now wants to see the side bounce back immediately this weekend.
“It was a bad day at the office,” Bass explained.
“To be honest, they deserved it, they showed more desire on the pitch. Unfortunately we have to take it as one of those games and start again next week.
“It just didn’t seem to work for us. They were really up for it, the pitch wasn’t great and we can’t use that as an excuse but we like to play nice football on the floor.
“We couldn’t do that today and I think it took us too long to get used to that.”
Next up for Leeds is a home match with Chorley. It’s a return to league action and the Whites are now looking forward to running out at the Global Stadium on Sunday.
Bass said: “The spirits are high, we’ve had really good training sessions the last couple of weeks.
“Everyone has been buzzing about the training pitch, so to have performed like this isn’t nice for anyone.
“It’s been difficult to not play any league game since October, so we need to kick on in that.
“We’ve got desire and our goals are set for where we want to finish in the league so we want to go and do that.
“This competition is gone now, so we need to focus on the league starting this Sunday.”
