Leeds United will begin their 2021/22 Emirates FA Cup journey as they travel to face West Ham United away from home on Sunday afternoon, 2pm.
Coming into the game, both David Moyes and Marcelo Bielsa watched their side pick up victories to begin 2022, both scoring three goals in the process.
The Whites have entered the competition at the Third Round stage along with the hosts, as the pair were drawn together to set up an all Premier League encounter, prior to the sides facing each other in league action next weekend.
The game will be played at the London Stadium and is being shown live on ITV. Thousands of Whites have tickets to attend the match and support the team, so it is set up for an entertaining encounter.
This will be the first time that the teams have met in the FA Cup, with the last meeting seeing them play another in 1930! The Hammers ran out winners on that occasion, but in the two matches before, the Whites won once and the other was a draw.
West Ham have won the last three meetings between the two teams, including both in the league last season. The last time Leeds won against Sunday’s opponents was in 2005, with the last win away from home coming in a 4-3 thriller back in 2002.
Supporters are reminded that there won’t be a replay should the match finish level, the tie will go straight to extra-time. Five substitutes are permitted to be used and VAR will also be in use at the London Stadium.
Leeds have won the FA Cup once, coming in 1972, whilst Sunday’s hosts have lifted the trophy on three occasions, 1964, 1975 and 1980, meaning it has been some time since either side tasted success in the competition.
The draw for the Fourth Round of the competition will take place directly after full-time on Sunday, with David James and Leah Williamson conducting the draw live from Wembley Stadium at approximately 16:50, live on ITV.
