Preview: Stockport County Ladies vs Leeds United Women

League action for the Whites.

Leeds United Women are facing Stockport County Ladies away from home on Wednesday evening, in their latest FAWNL Division One North clash.

The Whites travel to Edgeley Park for the 7:45pm kick off against County, hoping to return to winning ways after a close encounter against table-toppers Newcastle United Women on Sunday, which ultimately ended in defeat.

Wednesday’s hosts drew their last league match, away at Norton & Stockton Ancients. Prior to that, a loss against another West Yorkshire outfit Bradford City was a battle on home turf, whilst a 7-1 thumping of Alnwick Town was an impressive display.

When the two teams met on the opening day of the season, it would be Dan O’Hearne’s Leeds United side who ran out the winners that day. The Whites left it late, with Kirstie Hunt finding the net in the final seconds to secure the points.

County are currently in 7th position in the table with 20 points. A win for the Blues could see them progress up the table and go into 5th place, above local rivals Chorley. Leeds sit in 3rd spot on 27 and will be hoping to extend the gap to 4th placed Durham Cestria with a win.
