Leeds United Women return to FA WNL Division One North action during the week as they welcome Doncaster Rovers Belles to the Bannister Prentice Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Simon Wood’s side roared back to winning ways with an impressive 4-2 victory over Durham Cestria last time out, with Jess Rousseau’s late brace sealing an important three points for the Whites in Garforth.
Midfielder Kath Smith had twice given her side the lead as she continued her impressive start to the new campaign, but the visitors fought back as the teams went into the break with nothing to separate them.
Level late on, up stepped last term’s Player of the Season Jess Rousseau to net her first goal of the new campaign in stunning fashion, drilling a rifled effort into the roof of the net from 30 yards out.
The forward’s evening didn’t finish there, with the Leeds number 9 then grabbing a quickfire second from close range to seal the victory for Leeds.
That result leaves United fourth in the early season standings, one point above Wednesday’s visitors Doncaster.
Last time out, two second half goals saw Stockport County run out 3-1 winners over the Belles at the Eco-Power Stadium, with the sides having been level at the break.
The two teams met in pre-season as they contested the Julie Chipchase Trophy in South Yorkshire, with the Whites coming out on top in a 3-1 victory in August.
Action from the Bannister Prentice Stadium gets underway at 7:45.
