Preview: Leeds United v Shrewsbury Town

A look ahead to Wednesday's match.

Leeds United face Shrewsbury Town at Elland Road in a Carabao Cup first round clash, on Wednesday evening.

The match gets underway under the lights at 7:45pm, and will be the first time the two teams have met one another since 2012, also in this competition and at Elland Road.

The Whites ran out comfortable winners that night with a convincing 4-0 victory. Goals from Luciano Becchio, Luke Varney, David Norris and a Ross McCormack penalty were enough to seal progression to the second round.

Both teams began their league action at the weekend, with Leeds facing Cardiff in the Sky Bet Championship, whilst Shrewsbury took on Cheltenham Town in League One. Both matches were also the first competitive outings in charge for Daniel Farke and new Town boss, Matt Taylor.

After being two-goals down at half-time on Sunday against the Bluebirds, goals from Liam Cooper and a stoppage time leveller from Crysencio Summerville secured a point for the Whites.

The Shrews had to battle hard for their three points and did just that on home turf. Just five minutes into the second half, captain Ryan Bowman netted the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win, as Taylor’s side kept a much needed clean sheet in their season opener.

Supporters attending the game are reminded that kick-off at Elland Road is at 7:45pm, with full supporter information further down the page.
