Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs Leeds United

A look ahead to our Ewood Park trip.

EWOOD PARK 1

Leeds United travel to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon, looking to continue their recent good form in the Sky Bet Championship, against a strong Rovers side.

The Whites will head over the Pennines to face their Lancashire opponents for the 1:30pm kick-off at Ewood Park, backed by a superb travelling support of over 7,000 behind the goal.

Both teams come into the game with confidence, having secured wins last time out. Daniel Farke’s side made it three on the bounce with a midweek win over Luton Town at Elland Road.

First half goals came from Sam Byram and Joel Piroe, before an excellent finish from Dan James in the final 10 minutes wrapped up the points.

Rovers made it back-to-back away wins in midweek. Their previous three point haul was away at Cardiff City, before then travelling to Middlesbrough on Wednesday. Dominic Hyam’s second half winner secured the points at the Riverside, along with an impressive clean sheet.

John Eustace’s team will be looking to end a tough spell on home turf though, with no wins in their last three matches, all of which were without finding the net.

An opportunity to end that run after the international break was taken away however, following the Portsmouth game being postponed, leaving Rovers with a game in hand on the teams around them.

The Whites ended an unwanted record of their own on their travels last time out. Having gone four games without a victory away from home, a last-minute WIlly Gnonto goal sealed a maximum haul away at Swansea City.

Depending on results across the league, both teams could see movement in the table. Occupying top-spot going into the weekend, three points and a positive return on goal-difference elsewhere would see Farke’s side remain there.

Rovers have lofty ambitions of their own and the three desired points for them could see a return to the play-off places, again, depending on results elsewhere.
