A memorable meeting:
Time in Premier League:
Four years
The Bees were promoted from Sky Bet Championship at the end of the 2020/21 season, after amassing 87 points. However, that wasn’t enough for automatic promotion, meaning they had to safely navigate through the Play-Offs. They did just that to go up and have remained in the Premier League ever since.
Last season:
Brentford continue to look comfortable in the top-flight, with another exciting season under their belts which culminated in a top 10 finish. The West Londoners will have a twinge of disappointment that they couldn’t sneak into the European spots, but just nine defeats in the 38 games played combined with 66 goals scored will give them optimism again for next year.
One to watch:
Brentford manager Thomas Frank saw a prolific forward line help his side this season, but most impressively in the number 9 spot, Yoane Wissa netted 19 goals in the league. The majority of which were from open play, with the striker not on any set-play duty for much of the time, but his instinctive eye in front of goal combined with his teammates to regularly finish chances. He will be key once more for the Bees next season.
