Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford spoke to the media as the Premier League season came to a close.

The Whites ended the campaign with a fourth straight victory, as West Bromwich Albion were defeated 3-1 at Elland Road.

Bamford was pleased with the result, reflected on the campaign and spoke about what it was like playing in front of a crowd once again.

“It was good, we wanted to finish on a high,” said Bamford.

“I don’t want to be disrespectful to the opposition, but they’re a bit down in the dumps and I think we capitalised on that throughout the whole game.

“There was a little bit of sloppiness at the end from us which gave them a goal, but apart from that it was a good performance.

“Everyone went out there and enjoyed it with it being the last game of the season and we wanted to put on a display for the fans.

“I know there were only 8,000, but it was a great noise and it’s going to be great when everyone is back in.

“As a team we couldn’t have really asked for more, what we have done in our first year back in the Premier League it really is quite special.

“That’s testament to the boys and the coaching staff, everybody has put so much work in, so we’ll have a well-deserved break.

“We’re getting better and better the more we work under Marcelo and whilst it is hard and very demanding, the boys love him, everyone is so appreciative of what he has done for us and the team.”

Bamford also spoke about Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi who made an emotional farewell in the match.

He said: “Pablo is a fantastic footballer and most of the players would say he is one of the best we have played with.

“Berardi, honestly, he is the person you need.

“I said when we got promoted that he is the one who keeps the squad together, he was injured and sometimes he wasn’t playing, yet he was never down.

“You can get players who spit their dummy out and make the changing room a little bit unhappy, but he was fantastic and kept the boys together.

“The way he is around the group, he deserves everything he gets.”
