Leeds United return to Premier League action at Elland Road against AFC Bournemouth this weekend, having played away in our last two fixtures.

The Whites claimed an important victory against Everton on the opening day and followed that up with a well-earned point in a 0-0 draw against Newcastle United on home soil.

At the heart of the defence in those matches was Pascal Struijk, helping his side keep a clean sheet in both before going on to play a key role in the win against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

The defender has now been looking ahead to facing the Cherries in Saturday afternoon's 3pm kick-off, exclusively speaking to Premier League Productions.

“I'm going to say we've had a really good start," he began. “Just the one point that I think we missed out on was against Fulham which is a little bit unlucky, but so far so good.

“The Premier League does come with this ruthlessness in every single moment where you get punished if you don't pay attention.

“So I think for everyone, it was a reminder of what it can be like. And last weekend, we had a really good bounce back.

“I think it was really important for us to show not necessarily how we are on the ball but that we actually score goals as well, because that's a little bit what we've been lacking in the first few games.

“So to go out there [at Wolves], play good football, especially in the first half, and then make sure we score three goals before half-time, honestly, was an amazing performance from us.”

Now on to facing high-flying Bournemouth, Struijk wants to see his side continue to take points in front of our own fans, who he describes as a massive help to the squad.

He said: “I see chances for us to gain more points.

“They're a decent team, they've got a good coach, they've got them performing since last year and they've obviously started well in the league.

“Our fans, every single year I say this, they're amazing. When we go to Elland Road and we play at home, we feel like we've got an extra player on the team.

“When the crowd gets going, I've not experienced anything like it. So, yeah, when the game is starting and they are there behind us, we can play extra well.”
