Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk spoke exclusively to LUTV following Wednesday’s Carabao Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town.

The Dutchman was introduced at half-time, with the Whites trailing one-nil and he helped mount a second half comeback, netting the winning goal.

Struijk was happy the Whites were able to record a first victory of the season, in front of a crowd of over 35,000 at Elland Road.

“I’m pleased with the win, it was very important for us to go through in this competition,” said Struijk.

“The first half was a little bit difficult, we didn’t really play out well enough.

“In the second half we got better control of the game and the goals came eventually.

“Like last weekend (against Cardiff) where we gave away two silly goals, most of the time we controlled the game and then Shrewsbury  scored a goal out of nothing.

“It’s unfortunate we did this to ourselves for a second time, but it was good again to pull back from it and get the win today.

“We are now getting more and more into the way of playing that the manager wants.

“We’re controlling games and being dominant, but at times we have to be patient.

“Hopefully we can get the first goal at Birmingham City at the weekend and get the win as well.”
