Leeds United can confirm defender Oliver Casey has completed a permanent move to Sky Bet Championship side Blackpool for an undisclosed fee and will join on July 1st.
The 20-year-old departs Elland Road, having made three first team appearances for the Whites.
Casey originally joined Leeds’ Academy at Under-11 level, before working his way through the age groups at Thorp Arch.
He went on to have great success, helping the Academy win the Under-18s Professional Development League North, Under-23s Professional Development League and last season the Premier League 2 Division 2 title.
The defender’s performances saw Marcelo Bielsa hand him a senior debut in December 2019, helping Leeds defeat Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium, in the season where the Whites would go on to win promotion to the Premier League.
A regular in the matchday squad over the past two campaigns, he went on to feature twice more in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup for the first team last season.
Casey joins newly promoted Blackpool, who return to the Championship after winning the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs last season and will now be looking to keep their place in England’s second tier.
Everyone at Leeds United would like to thank Olly for his efforts and professionalism throughout his time at the club and we wish him all the very best for the future.
