Leeds United supporters have voted Lukas Nmecha’s dramatic late winner against Fulham as the club’s JD Sports Goal of the Month for January.
The German forward’s 91st-minute finish secured a 1-0 victory at Elland Road in front of a crowd of 36,300 and sparked jubilant scenes around the stadium.
Just as the clock ticked into added time, Ethan Ampadu delivered a teasing cross into the penalty area. Nmecha reacted instinctively, hooking his boot around the dropping ball and rifling it beyond the Fulham goalkeeper to seal all three points.
Fans awarded the strike 35% of the vote, edging out strong competition. Brenden Aaronson’s goals against Man Utd (29%) and Newcastle (17%) were also popular, while Willy Gnonto’s finish against Derby County received 19%.
Speaking after receiving the award, Nmecha said “It’s amazing to receive this award, I’m buzzing and so happy about it. I can't thank the fans enough and hopefully we can continue to repay them for their fantastic support across the entire season.”
The goal proved decisive on the night and has quickly become one of the standout moments of Leeds’ season, with supporters still reliving the dramatic stoppage-time winner that lit up Elland Road.
