The match officials for Leeds United’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Wednesday have been announced, with Michael Salisbury set to take charge at St. James’ Park.

The Select Group official is in his fifth season in the Premier League. In that time, the 40-year-old has overseen 52 top-flight matches beginning with a 2021 meeting between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

The Lancashire-native has worked his way up the English football pyramid, with more than 150 EFL league matches officiated.

In their four matches refereed by Salisbury, the Whites have won twice and lost twice. The official’s last Leeds match was United’s brilliant 7-0 win against Cardiff City in the Championship last season.

The opposition, meanwhile, have two wins and two draws in their five matches refereed by Salisbury. In his last visit to St. James’ Park, the Magpies defeated Ipswich Town 3-0 last season.

Keeping up with the action from Stockley Park is Video Assistant Referee Paul Howard and Additional VAR Sian Massey-Ellis.
