It is midweek action for Leeds United Women, who welcome York City Ladies to the BD Community Stadium on Wednesday evening in the FA WNL Division One North.
After a week without a fixture following the postponement of the FA Cup tie against Rotherham United Women, the Whites will be looking to return to winning ways following a goalless draw away at AFC Fylde Women.
Described as a “game of two halves” by defender Emily Cassidy, Leeds were put under pressure by the hosts before the break but looked the more likely side to find a winner in the second half, with the points ultimately shared.
The result brought an end to Leeds’ impressive 10-game winning streak, with Simon Wood’s side now aiming to get back on track against York.
Prior to the trip to Fylde, the Whites secured a 2-0 home victory over Norton & Stockton Ancients, with Amy Woodruff and Drew Greene both finding the net in the first half to claim all three points.
Across the three meetings between the sides last season, Leeds scored 12 goals and conceded three, winning 5-2 away from home in the FA WNL Cup group stage before recording 5-1 and 2-0 victories in the league.
York currently sit fifth in the standings with 10 points, nine behind league leaders Leeds. The Minsterbelles head into Wednesday’s contest on the back of a 3-1 victory over Chorley Women, securing their third win of the campaign.
Action at the BD Community Stadium gets underway at 7.45pm.
