Marley Wilson made his long-awaited return from injury to feature for Leeds United Under-21s in their Premier League 2 defeat against Nottingham Forest Under-21s on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to LUTV, the attacker admitted how pleased he was to be back amongst the action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines and reflected on the match.
“I thought it was a good game, a good game to come back to,” the forward explained after the full-time whistle at the LNER Community Stadium.
“Obviously, it was a close game, so I had to come back, show what I had, show what I left with. We tried to get a goal, came close enough but we didn’t win the game.
“It has been difficult, to be honest. Two years out. It is tough. It is tough to take. First big injury. But I am back now so hopefully I can stay fit and see what the season brings for me.”
Wilson may feature in Tuesday’s Vertu Trophy fixture against Accrington Stanley away from home, one the 20-year-old believes will be a stern test.
“First team opponents. Tough, strong, physical. We will try put in what it takes to hopefully bring home the win.”
