Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Sunday’s win at Bristol City.

The Whites made a winning start to the 2019/20 campaign at Ashton Gate, with goals from Pablo Hernandez, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison helping Leeds secure a 3-1 victory.

Bielsa was pleased with the majority of the performance, whilst also spoke about the influence of Ben White, Patrick Bamford and Pablo Hernandez in the win.

“We managed the first 30 minutes of the game well in both halves,” said Bielsa.

“At the same time, in the last 15 minutes in both halves, we conceded and shared too much possession.

“I know perfectly well that this is a long season and all of the things that happen at the start of the season do not determine the finish, we suffered a lot in this situation last season.

“Both Ben White and Patrick Bamford were very good, the average of the team was positive.

“We had five players over this average and these two players were over this average.

“Patrick showed a lot of effort, hard work, personality and managed to score.

“He kept the performance for the full game, he was helping us to press higher as a team and was our reference to create danger.

“Pablo Hernandez broke a lot of balance with his individual play.

“He is a player that plays in combinations and provided a lot of dribbles to break the balance of the opponent.

“When he adds this type of skills, it is obviously a big value for the team.”
