Leeds United are pleased to announce Academy defender Luke Matykiewicz has signed a first professional contract with the club.

The centre-back’s two-year deal will keep him within the ranks at Thorp Arch until 2028 as he continues his development in Scott Gardner’s Under-21s.

After beginning last term with the U18s, the 18-year-old stepped up to the U21s fold where he went on to play eight times, including in a 3-0 National League Cup victory over Gateshead.

On the international front, Matykiewicz has been capped three times by Northern Ireland at youth level, beginning with a debut win against Malta U19s.

Earlier this year, the defender followed that maiden appearance up with two more starts for Northern Ireland’s U19s, helping the side to cleansheets in meetings with Romania and Kazakhstan.
