Luke Ayling captained the Whites to a deserved clean sheet and hard-earned point at home to Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime.
The full-back played a big part as always in the defensive line, as well as helping his team push forward. He gave his thoughts after the match.
“I think it’s a fair result, there weren’t many chances in the game,” Ayling explained.
“We tried to press them high up the pitch and try to make it hard for them, I think we did that.
“We broke the press a few times but there weren’t many chances for both teams. If you look at the chances, I think ours are the best in the game.
“I think it was one of those games, each team got into good positions but maybe the final pass or the final ball was behind or a few slips at vital moments.
“It’s a good point in the end.”
Ayling was asked whether Patrick Bamford leaving the pitch through injury would have affected the side, but the defender was keen to stress the importance of the squad at Elland Road.
He said: “We play the same way with whoever is in the team.
“We’re set up for players to come in and out. He’s [Patrick Bamford] our top-scorer so that was a lot of goals out of our team but we back our players to come in and score goals.
“We’ve had had quite a few injuries but that’s the same for every team.
“It’s been a long two years, we didn’t have much of a pre-season so it’s been a long season with a few injuries but that’s the same for every team.”
