Leeds United return to Emirates FA Cup action on Sunday afternoon as they face West Ham United, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.

In the previous round of the competition, Leeds defeated Norwich City 3-0 at Elland Road with German forward Lukas Nmecha leading the line, providing the assist for Joël Piroe’s strike in the second half.

Ahead of the weekend’s clash at the London Stadium, Nmecha spoke to the media and reflected on the season so far, and the Whites’ ambitions of making the final four at Wembley Stadium.

“I have been happy to an extent,” the striker began. “Some things I could have done better, a few chances come to mind now and then but generally with the chances I have had, I think I have done quite well.

“I have never played there [at Wembley] before. It would be amazing. I think for the fans it would be a good day out as well. We are close, so we might as well try and go all the way. It will be a challenge for them as well.”

After starting the previous match against Brentford on the left flank, the forward spoke on his versatility, adding: “Obviously, I have played that position now for a couple of games which has been fine.

“I am glad to start the games. I am enjoying my football. I am enjoying the time here – it is really nice to be here.”

Leeds boss Daniel Farke has utilised his side’s depth in the cup competitions, allowing the players to show their qualities and summer signing Nmecha highlighted the importance of having a competitive squad pushing each other on.

“We have rotated a lot in the cup, so it has offloaded a bit on the players that are playing more in the Premier League. We are ready for it again.

“I think it is important just to take the games as they come, not read into it too much, but our goal for the game is just to win.”
