Speaking ahead of facing Newcastle United at Elland Road this weekend, Lucas Perri has given his thoughts on the first few weeks of being a Leeds United player, in an exclusive interview with Premier League Productions.

The goalkeeper has started both Premier League matches so far, which saw him keep a clean sheet against Everton on the opening day, before a tough afternoon for the side at title-chasing Arsenal.

As well as on the pitch, the Brazilian has also had to contend with adapting to life in a new country, off it.

"I'm settling fine. From last week my dogs arrived here so it's been a long time without the dogs, my wife, and the baby, so now it feels like the family is back together,” Perri began, on life in Leeds.

“So it's feeling really, really nice, the city looks lovely that I am living in as well so everything is working.

“I just went to one or two restaurants and most of the time was taking care of the moving, my wife and dogs. So we didn't have much time to explore the city much yet.

“But everybody that I spoke to, everybody from the club and from the city were super nice to me. They're helping me so much to feel at home. So it's been very good.”

Looking ahead to taking on the Magpies in Saturday’s late kick-off, Lucas was happy to begin with a big win over Everton, but feels that the team can learn from the defeat at the Emirates.

“The first game was incredible,” he reflected. “It was incredible to have my first Premier League game at home, at Elland Road, that was electric and with a clean sheet.

“The second game was a difficult game against Arsenal. They're fighting for the title for many years now. So it's a really good team, but it's a thing that we need to work on, we need to see what we did wrong and improve for the next matches.

“It's an incredible team next with incredible players, as pretty much everyone in the Premier League has fantastic players,” he added, on facing Newcastle.

“It's a fantastic team so it's going to be a really good game and we're going to prepare the match to make a very balanced game and try to find a win.

“Our stadium, the way it was against Everton, it was incredible and helped us a lot to get the win. And I'm sure that it's going to be a differential for our club in the Premier League.”
