Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper spoke exclusively to LUTV ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Three more points for Leeds United could see Marcelo Bielsa’s side move into the top half of the table, with the halfway stage of the season approaching.

Cooper began by reflecting on his recent recovery from injury over recent weeks after missing the festive period.

He said: “Getting injured at any time of the season is difficult, but you just have to get your head down, let it heal and work hard.”

“Ruben (fitness coach) has been tough on me, so I’ve not lost any fitness.

“It was good to get 45 minutes in a disappointing game last weekend, but all eyes are on this weekend now and I’m looking forward to that.”

Following back to back wins at Elland Road, Cooper is now hoping the Whites can make it a third on the spin against Saturday’s opponents Brighton.

“We’ve got to be good with our home form, that is something we pride ourselves on and the two results against Newcastle United and Burnley is something we can take a lot of confidence from,” said Cooper.

“Brighton are a good side, it will be a tough test and hopefully one we can go and win.

“They are a big threat, they’ve got a lot of good attacking players and they’re a good team who try to play.

“They’ll bring the game to us and I think that will suit us as well.

“I’m obviously looking forward to seeing Ben (White) again, it will be nice to see him, but all we want to do is win the game.

“We’ve got to beat the teams around us and we’ve managed to do that so far, but we know how difficult and important these games are.

“We’ll go out and be us, we’ll be on the front foot with high energy and hopefully that can get us a positive result.

“The lads have trained so hard this week, we’ve just had a tough session of murderball, it was of a very high standard and we’re all looking forward to the game now.”
