Leeds United captain Liam Cooper shared his thoughts with the media after his side played out an entertaining draw with Newcastle United.

The Whites went into the lead at St James’ Park through Raphinha, before the match was drawn level shortly before the interval.

The second half saw both teams searching for the win but neither could find the net, and Cooper was asked for his immediate feelings at full-time.

“It’s frustration,” he explained.

“We came here to play our stuff, we knew it would be tough because it is never an easy place to come.

“We got the early goal which is what we wanted and what we needed, then conceded a sloppy goal on our behalf.

“After that I felt we reacted well, we were going for the win and unfortunately we couldn’t get the goal.

“I don’t know how many chances we created but it felt like a lot and we just need to start putting them in.”

The skipper went into further detail about the importance of taking chances in the Premier League and said he feels his side will improve on that in the upcoming matches.

Cooper said: “We all know how important it is in this league to put chances in and keep them out at the other end as well.

“Newcastle defended well, they sat deep and filled the box which made the spaces a lot shorter which was difficult for us to get in behind.

“We’ve dealt with that a lot, we need to improve on that and I am sure we will.”
