Leicester City fixture dedicated to Remembrance Day

Club to remember fallen heroes.

Remembrance activity 21 banner.jpg

Leeds United Football Club will pay its respects to fallen heroes from the armed forces on Sunday as the team take on Leicester City in the Premier League, with a special tribute and moment of silence held prior to kick off (2pm).

Our dedicated Remembrance fixture will feature a number of activities as we commemorate the sacrifices of servicemen and women, past and present.

Ahead of kick off, the two club captains will each lay a wreath on the touchline as they lead their teams out of the tunnel, before both sets of teams take their place round the centre circle. There will then be a moment of silence observed by those at Elland Road whilst a performance of The Last Post is played by a bugler live at the side of the pitch as a mark of respect to all members of the armed forces that have served our country.

Leading up to the match, the club also invited a group of special guests to the stadium to lay wreathes at the Billy Bremner Statue and take part in some filming that will be played out on the big screen during the pre-match tribute at the weekend. Involved in the activity were members of the Parachute Regiment, Yorkshire Regiment, Royal British Legion (Standard Bearers), Royal Logistic Corps and Royal Army Medical Corps.

All players involved in the game will also be wearing shirts emblazoned with a poppy, and these shirts will be made available for auction following the game – with all proceeds going to local and national military charities. Please keep an eye on the official Leeds United website for further information.

A massive thank you to all of those who will be attending on Sunday and those involved in the activity ahead of our clash with Leicester City to help mark Remembrance Day, along with all of the servicemen and women who have fought for our country.

If you would like to buy a poppy and donate to The Royal British Legion, please visit rbl.org.uk/poppyappeal.
