Charlie Cresswell, Jack Jenkins, and Stuart McKinstry recently joined a number of residents from a local care home through the Fit Generations programme currently being delivered by the Leeds United Foundation.

The three players, who have all been in the Leeds United Academy, paid a special visit to Elland Road to join in with their final Olympic game themed session which had been dubbed the closing ceremony.

During the visit, the trio took part in various chair-based exercises, supporting with activities that help the participants with their mobility and they also spent time chatting with the residents from Harrogate Lodge Care Home and their families that had made the journey over.

Whilst at the event, Leeds United defender and Under-23s captain Charlie Cresswell spoke to LUTV.

He said: “It’s good to get down and see all the people here. I think it’s very important to give back to the community, because these people have spent their life with memories of Leeds United Football Club.

“We are representing them at the moment, so it’s great if we can go and put a smile on some faces. We want to give our time to show that appreciation for their support, and hopefully we can support them as well.”

The Leeds United Foundation have been working with a number of care homes around Leeds on their Fit Generations initiative, delivering weekly online and face to face sessions that support care workers and enable family members and loved ones to have some respite.

Fit Generations involves various elements, including physical exercises and memory-based exercises. The exercise sessions they run can help to improve the flexibility, mood, circulation and stamina of participants to ensure they are as comfortable as possible day to day.
