Matchday

Leeds United to honour Remembrance Day

Club to pay its respects at West Ham fixture.

Poppy on pitch

Leeds United will pay its respects to those who have served our country on Friday night as we take on West Ham United in the Premier League, with a special tribute and moment of silence held prior to kick off.

Our dedicated Remembrance fixture, which is always the closest home game to Remembrance Day, will feature a number of activities as we commemorate the sacrifices of servicemen and women and their families, past and present.

Ahead of kick-off both captains will carry a wreath onto the pitch whilst leading their teams out, before laying them at the side of the dugouts, where they will remain for the rest of the evening.

Players will then take their place around the centre-circle before a moment of silence is observed during a performance of The Last Post at the side of the pitch.

Also present during the live rendition will be a number of veterans and service people, representing the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Army, including the Yorkshire Regiment and Parachute Regiment alongside four Standard Bearers.

Volunteers from the Royal British Legion will be hosting a Poppy collection around the stadium ahead of the game to help raise much-needed funds to support our Armed Forces. Whilst all of the Leeds United players involved in the game will be wearing shirts emblazoned with the poppy, and these shirts will be made available for auction following the game – with all proceeds going to local and national military charities.

A massive thank you to all of those who will be in attendance to help mark Remembrance Day at Elland Road, along with all of the servicemen and women who have fought for our country.

We will remember them.
