Leeds United are teaming up with the Mayor of West Yorkshire this weekend to show their support for the ‘Just Don’t’ campaign centred around sexual harassment.

Ahead of kick-off against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, the club will screen a hard-hitting video at Elland Road which was created as part of the campaign that aims to stop everyday sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards women and girls.

The short film shows men and boys making excuses for inappropriate behaviour and harassment in everyday situations, before escalating in a chilling finale where a male perpetrator makes a threat about knowing where a young woman lives. The video has now been seen millions of times since its launch and you can view it online here.

Leeds United are lending their support to the important campaign and we are urging supporters to act as an ally, to step up and call this behaviour out when you see it across the city and region.

Shocking research has shown that 86% of young women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment in public and the Mayor is urging everybody to help stop it.

Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin said: “Together, we're taking a stand against the harassment and abuse that we, as women and girls in the region, have to suffer in our everyday lives.

“Alongside other sports clubs in our region, Leeds United are making a stand for what is right and using their position as role models for our boys and young men to help improve the safety of women and girls.

“This isn’t about blame – men and boys have a key role to play in helping us end this behaviour. This is about encouraging them as allies to see the problem and empowering them to help us by stepping up and calling it out.

“Our message in this campaign is that it’s not banter, it’s not harmless, and it’s not OK — so just don’t.”
