Leeds United welcomed hundreds of Junior Members to their annual Festive Party earlier this week with special surprise guests Illan Meslier, Jamie Shackleton, Charlie Cresswell, Mateo Joseph and Kristoffer Klaesson all in attendance.

The event took place on Tuesday evening in the Centenary Pavilion with around 250 of our Junior Members coming along with their family members to celebrate the festive season and all things Leeds United.

Ben Shires, who is a local TV presenter and avid Leeds United supporter, was on hand to host the festivities and during the event he was able to welcome to the stage the five first-team players all donning blue Santa hats. The players were on hand to answer questions from the crowd, take part in a Christmas and Leeds United themed quiz, before drawing the special mascot prize draw and having a group photo with all the children gathered in front of them.

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier, spoke to LUTV during the evening event, and he said: “We’ve all loved coming down here tonight, being a part of their party, and just giving back some time to these kids that all follow the club.

“The atmosphere was great, you could see that everyone was having fun and enjoying themselves, which is exactly what it’s all about this time of the year, and I’m glad we were able to be a part of that and help put smiles on their faces.”

Aside from the surprise visit from our Leeds United stars, Lucas the Kop Cat was also in attendance to meet with the young supporters and get involved in some fun games. During the event the junior supporters were treated to plenty of food, goody bags, and the chance to win lots of different prizes. There was also facepainters, balloon modellers and a photo station for families to enjoy together.

We hope everyone that was able to attend the Junior Members Festive Party enjoyed the fun festivities ahead of Christmas, and from everyone at Leeds United we wish you all a Happy New Year.
